A full subjective history will be taken as well as information on your pet's exercise and home environment. Following that will be a gait analysis, full body palpation and joint range of motion assessment. The findings from these along with clinical reasoning are used to create a treatment plan for the session.
Manual Treatment
The treatment plan for the appointment will depend on the findings of the assessment. This will include manual therapies such as massage, myofascial release, joint mobilisations, active/passive range of motion, trigger point release and stretches.
Electrotherapies
In addition to manual therapies, treatment may also be benefitted from electrotherapies. At EF Veterinary Physiotherapy we have a Class 3b Laser, this is a non-invasive, pain- free way to enhance and accelerate the body’s natural healing process using infra-red light.
Exercise Prescription
Individual exercise plans will be demonstrated during the session to help support your animal between physiotherapy appointments. The aim of these exercises will be to improve muscle strength, increase proprioception, reduce pain and correct movement. A plan going forward will be devised, to enable us to achieve the goals and results wanted.
